"Let's go for a walk,” Hade softly said, smiling down gently as he patted the top of Aki's head. It was an unusual gesture from the blue-haired man. Not so much because it wasn't like him, but because it had been years since Hade had last done it to Aki. The affectionate gesture was typical of Hade. With the boys, he generally followed it with a headlock or a ruffling of their hair. For the girls, who he viewed as delicate flowers, he would often gently place a large hand on their heads and let it rest for a moment. He wouldn't ruffle their hairs, claiming that a girl's hair was their most treasured accessory, so it was inappropriate and ungentlemanly to mess it up for them. For Aki, however, Hade had long since stopped touching her head. She never knew why. A part of her had reasoned it might have been due to the fact that she had often complained about it when she was younger. It had been part of her tsundere persona, which in the last few months had slowly diminished. Perhaps that was why Hade now felt like he could do it again. Aki wasn't sure. But one thing was certain, she'd missed it.
Aki never realized how much she had missed that small simple gesture until now. Her eyes blurred as she felt the warm reassuring touch of the man who had raised her. A part of her screamed inside Aki's head, but it was quickly drowned out by the soft sobs that escaped her as a flood of tears spilled from her lavender-tinted eyes.
Hade didn't react. He remained silent, his large hand heavy atop her head. Slowly, Aki calmed herself. She didn't dare look up, not sure what kind of face he would be making. She was sure it wouldn't be bad, but a small voice in her head told her that is she saw it she might burst into tears again.
"This way,” Hade finally said after all the tears had stopped.
The pair walked in silence, out of the main house and then out of the compound. It wasn't until they began walking through mostly deserted side streets that again Hade broke the silence. “So you're in love with Gosai.”
There was a moment then where time seemed to stop. Aki froze in her tracks, letting Hade get a few steps ahead of her. She realized then that her brother had been shortening his stride in order to allow her to keep up. It occurred to Aki that perhaps Hade always did this. Considering how much taller he was and how much longer his legs were from most other people in his life, it made sense that he would move faster. It was an odd thing to think about at that moment, but in a way quite fitting. This was Hade after all. While most people dismissed him for a drunk or a fool or a troublemaker, the truth of who he was ran deeper than that. Hade was observant, generous, kind and always considerate of others. The fact that he shortened his steps and walked slower to accommodate others was simply who he was. As was the fact that he knew Aki's feelings, but not once had he teased her or tormented her about them, despite the fact that teasing was also in his nature.
Hade ignored the question. “He's a good man.” Turning forward again, he began walking towards where ever it was he was leading them. Aki wasted little time in following after. Again they walked in silence through busy streets and between empty alleys. They weaved their way through hordes of fangirls and the occasional fanboy, who stopped and asked Hade if he wanted to go out on a date or drinking, and of course the occasional unashamed invitation to their bed. To each one the blue-haired man gave his most dashing of smirks, winking before politely declining their offer, telling them each that they looked ravishing, but that alas he was much too busy at the moment and simply did not have the time to acquiesce to their tempting invitations.
Normally I draw myself a Kakashi for my birthday, but this year I decided to do a quick Hade. It's this scene in the "Aki's Confession" 3-chapter story that made me remember just how much I love this blue-haired bishie
